Withnail and I

Cult British comedy at its gloriously chaotic best.

It’s 1969, and two broke, out-of-work actors are living in a freezing, filthy London flat, surviving on booze, cigarettes and increasingly questionable decisions. Desperate to escape the city, Withnail and his anxious flatmate head to the English countryside for what they imagine will be a relaxing holiday at Withnail’s uncle’s cottage.

Instead, they find relentless rain, no food, hostile locals and a weekend that quickly spirals into complete disaster.

Darkly funny, endlessly quotable and brilliantly strange, Withnail and I has become one of Britain’s most-loved cult films. Richard E. Grant is unforgettable as the outrageous Withnail in a story of friendship, failure and the messy end of an era.

If you’ve never seen it, this is the perfect way to discover it. If you have, you already know why it deserves another watch on the big screen.
